yanmar mini diggers!
well i have been driving a 3ton mini digger this week, 9 times out of 10 when you turn up on site there will be a little takuchi sat there waiting, however this time i had been delivered a yanmar! so i clambered aboard open minded and to be completely honest its not a bad little machine, a very jap feel on the hydro's which is normaly pretty good! cab lacks room if your 6ft+ but not bad at all! anyone else had any dealings with these machines???

Hi Tone,
I first came across Yanmar excavators in 1983 when I operated a 3ton model myself, in those days they were 100% Japanese and I must say it was a fantastic little machine, which I would compare in feel to todays Takeuchi models.
BUT....Since they have joined forces with French company Ammann I do not like them that much, the last one I operated was whilst working for our member Ian Stanton on one of Roy Wakehams 5 ton Yanmars, my main issues with it were the Rexroth Hydraulics that are fitted to them (Also in Shaeff/Terex minis)

Re: yanmar mini diggers!
Hi
I went on holiday with the family two years ago staying with the brides sister and husband at their farm outside Eccleshall,Stafford, ended up with him hiring a Yanmar eight tonner for muggins here to drive for the week!!!!
Must say I quite enjoyed driving it apart from the tiny cab-not really suitable for a six footer like myself

Here is the one we jsut bought about a month ago. I'm up to 53 hrs on the thing today!
It's overall a good machine, its the first zero turn machine we have own and I hope it will be the last, just way to darn tippy when you working. if you stretch the boom all the way out the rear comes off the ground, put dirt in the bucket and hold on!
Here's some pics

Hi Dirtman,
Well I cant say I'm suprised to be honest, the machine looks as though it has a longer than normal boom + the weight of the thumb that you have fitted must make a fair bit of difference to the machines balance
Looks a nice machine though

Thanks!
It's the factory sized boom for the US market. It's has a 13' digging depth and weighs around 11,000 LBS
Here a picture of it beside our 8000LBS takeuchi... A very good machine in my book
