Post #1 by Joes1989 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 8:39 pm

Hey guys,

Im just wondering if anyone ever went the the opencast site in Selston/Pye Bridge in Derbyshire. It was called Smotherfly.

I went there when i was in nursery school but never took any photo's

Im just wondering as i cant remember what equipment was there.

Sweet, I can vaguely remember some RH's there too. I can remember driving round in a Land Rover with my nose pressed againt the window in ore of the machines. Funny really as now i dont have any time for mining machine and just stick to the construction site machines.

Would that be carl? Would have been very handy as it was just down the road from him.

Hi Joe,
I have some photo's of Smotherfly and will scan then in. I seem to remember that Kier had 3 RH120's and a Liebherr R994 Backhoe.

I have footage of that site and they had two Liebherr excavators and what seemed to be two RH's, two yellow ones at the start of the site but then it seemed that a yellow one disappeared and the white one came in, ever since then I never seen the two yellows and the one white machine working at the same time, always seen the one yellow machine and white one, I know it was the same yellow one constantly working because the Kier badges were different between the two and the yellow machines were numbered 1 and 2, only have seen 2 working at the beginning of the site whereas 1 was always working. Unless 2 was a stanby machine then that would explain it. :dizzy:
