Komatsu -3 excavators

Post #1 by komatsu d475-1 » Thu Dec 31, 2009 2:18 pm

Hi
Heres a few pics of our 1991/2 komatsu pc 210-3kp.This is a rare enough old beast in that it is the 3kp model. This is a stopgap model somewhere between the -3 and -5 .It is basically a modified -3 fitted with a perkins engine and some changes inside the cab including the levers.I dont kno if the valve blocks or pumps are the same or not.I spent my first day in this old lady 16 years ago when it was my fulltime machine. It still does the occasional days work and i did a day in it a few weeks ago.Not the nicest thing to drive by todays standards but it has a good heater ,wiper and radio and a reasonable seat[half the battle imo]
Theres 13000 hours on this and in the 16 years that we have this it has had 2 sets of chains, recon head ,2 final drives ,turbo and a few ram seals. Its been pinned and bushed a few times around the bucket linkages .
These were built to get around the uk import restrictions so that machines could be sold upto the -5s arrival date in 1992.
Does anyone have any pictures of another kp model but all other -3 pictures appreciated as well.Cheers Merv :D

Joe these were originally navy blue and yellow, the later -5 had the white cab which was stamped ottoson,Belgium if my memory serves me right.example pics below show colours of -3 and later -5.Green colour does spoil our machine but yer dad always knows better
Grey import -5 has a slightly different colours with a blue cab with a white stripe.cheers
