Came across this Atlas 2202 the other day and is I believe the second largest model ever built. I remember Atlas introducing this model in the early 1980s but hadn’t ever seen one.

It weighed up to 42.5t in face shovel configuration with the HD undercarriage and power come from a V8 Deutz engine.

Cheers Nick, but it is of course the dummy proof camera that takes the good pictures :)

Sam,

Believe me I spend a lot of time sat at a desk or in a training room which wouldn't be everyone's cuppa tea - did doubt some extent if it could be mine a number of years back.

I visit sites to perfrom either 'site evaluations', whereby I'll look to determine what products we can offer in order to meet the customer's productivity etc requirements, or because I want to see a specific machine and come to some kind of conclusion about it. This will often mean seeing a few examples as one customer's opinion or one site's conditions don't often paint a full picture.

It's my job to prove (essentially to our own people) how could our excavators are and where we can offer an advantage; obviously this means getting very close to competitive models both on site and at our test locations.

Rob.

A mixture of classic and modern excavators.
