Actualy "BRITISH MADE"came before "BROOM+WADE" as you can see in this 1940s example which I was keeping for my "Way We Were" thread.

Hello Fred,on the Pathe film at around 7 mins it shows it the otherway round
I have got a photo of Fred Dibnah's trusty Broome Wade compressor powered by a 4 cyl Ford engine. It think these were around 200 cfm. This machine had Broom Wade British made on a plate just above the canopy.
Thanks for demonstrating the Fowler, she runs sweet as a nut.Looking forward to seeing the dozer do a bit of pushing. You have done a smashing job on it

You are dead right there mate. This country is a sad shadow of what it was.We are run by morons that are only interested in what they can make for themselves.Very sad.The British people deserve better.

I spent two weeks at the Consolidated Pnuematic factory in Frazerburgh learnig how to build single screw compressors and testing them.Factory now gone. They had great pride in their work at that factory producing good products. The trouble with the UK is that we did not invest in our industries as other countries like Japan did.The result was that we were left behind and could not compete.
That Scottish factory was huge, the town is well known for its fishing industry, the compressor factory employed hundreds of high skilled people. This country has just become a service industry employer,we don't make things any more.I know my friends in the USA think the same way as us in the UK. Very sad
