Nice photos guys, i did not know Mc Alpines was still into the big quarrying kit, i thought they'd sold that side of the business off!

Like those 992 shots, would not imagine many people would get to see this machine working!

I was down Whatley Quarry on a job last year.They had a runnaway stone train a few years back that made a hell of a mess.
Will try to get photos taken of its recovery.Also been to Merehead a few times.

Carillion Asset Management Services which used to be Alfred McAlpine Asset Management Services (the former AMPL) does a lot of outsourcing contract work particularly for quarrying companies in the UK. The business is reportedly for sale, with its site accomodation fleet already having been sold to Speedy.

No the one that used to belong to Foster Yeoman is Merehead quarry/Torr Works just a few miles away :thumbup: Tim

We used to do test runs on stone trains out of Whatley in the late 1980's using class 56 locos
