Oh dear Martyn, what has this country come too? So sad to see what resources we have lost, what is now imported and all our once proud public assets sold off and owned by overseas Fat Cats. It does not seem like 25 years ago since that awful Miners strike split communities, friendships and assisted the closure of the UK Coal Mining Industry. Despite the uglyness of what events occured during that strike, I knew some of the nicest honest people that were once Miners.

Yes Dave its very sad.The locos are made in Canada. At least we have got a few open cast sites opening up in the UK.The firm I work for is German, DB Schenker. The good news it that the Polish ships are unloaded using five Stoddard and Pitt cranes made in Bath. The wagons are loaded by a CAT 966 and two Komatsu loaders.I hope to get some photos of this soon. Its great to see those cranes at work, its like a dance routine as they unload the ship.

You beat me to it Martin, just found the videos on youtube. I wonder how much it cost to reopen the line.

A few hundred thousand I bet.A car drove into a loco at that crossing last week.It was a boy racer,no injuries thankfully.except his car.No contest against a 127 ton locomotive.
