I totally agree, the truth is much better even if it's bad news, at least you can work round that.

It is a Perkins AD3152 common as muck and a great engine. Trouble is you go for another used unit and you don't know the history. It is cheap to rebuild and you know it's going to be good for some time. It'll be like new. Also that unit fits straight in, all the linkages, hoses and cables will all go straight back together. No extra mods required. Should be in in about 2 hours when completed.

Thanks for all your support and interest

Captain Clive, the outfit that tucked you up on the"Battleship" are well known for their crap, its sorta' hard to say after the deal but I get loads of work because of the skills they show, I dont like to ask but what took you so long to "Cop On" to the knobs, also what made you cough up the big coin up front? perhapse you have been in the water to much it can make tough nuts soft, anyhow I hope this is only a minor glitch in the launching of the "Black Pearl" and things chug ahead at a reasonable Clipper Speed.

p.s. Port is left? no its right? I thought it was left?

 Nice Graham

Jeremy,
pot 1 broken ring and badly scored piston, crank marked but not too bad. Liner could have been honed out.
pot 2 oil ring seized at the piston base, light scoring to piston and liner. Crank more marked than pot 1
Pot 3 piston and liner ok but crank badly marked.

All in all a bit of crap everywhere!

The cost of a new crank was about the same as grinding it. The liners were not too expensive nor the pistons and rings. Opted for a complete new head to plus the all important oil pump. Lets hope she's good as new!

Should be done by the time the job is finished. Waste of time buying it. The whole purpose was to use it on this job and save on the hire!!!!!
