THE VILLIERS NAME IS BACK ON ENGINES ?????

Post #1 by FOWLER MAN » Sat Feb 23, 2013 11:56 pm

Hi,
I recently re-engined some small plant with Chinese Loncin engines, (see projects). These have been pretty succesful so I went on line to get a Loncin engine for a customer.
The engines offered are clearly the same Loncin products as I bought previously, but their now marketed as "VILLIERS", and clearly marked VILLIERS ENGLAND. :? :?: :?:
Whats going on :?: :?: :?: Have they just bought the name, and if so how can they justify "ENGLAND" and the flag on a chinese product.

All the petrol engined items of plant at Beacon Plant in 1982 had Villiers engines, Simplite pumps and those crane hoists with friction drive. Then everything changed in a short time to Honda engines. The engine in the photo has the same layout as a Honda and looks like one :dizzy: Rebadged perhaps ? Would be interested to find out

Hello Craig,
Go to www.pump.co.uk/search/loncin-engines for prices and details.
They are made under licence to Honda design and they even make engines for BMW bikes.

I bought the first one four years ago and its still OK, but only in use 50% of the time.

I recently bought the ones featured in the Project Section on here. The 11 hp. G340 for a welder for £170-00 including vat, and an 8 hp. G240 for a portable workshop compressor for £145-00 including vat.

Interesting price.I found the Honda's a good engine as long as you kept the air filters clean and good clean fuel.Very hard with a hire fleet  The machines I worked on were worked flat out all day and used to be covered in concrete dust.We made good money on the cleaning charge alone.
