Re: Hobson's of Eggborough
Hi tried posting a reply but it didnt upload so here goes again - worked for hobsons back in the mid sixties on a JCB7 did a short spell up at penrith on hire to macs des diamond offered me a mount on a 22a working for macs but turned it down because it was a very wet place always raining went from there onto the A1 at coxhoe digging out bridge foundations the jcb7 was a decent machine for its time but an unusual operator layout with 2 long levers for hoist and dipper and 4 foot pedals for bucket and slewing enjoyed driving it but never drove them again after that they were a decent outfit to work for john hobson seemed to be the one in charge and a decent enough guy

Re: Hobson's of Eggborough
Hi sorry I`m a bit late with this post but I have oly just seen it
My cousin Peter Richardson worked for Hodsons and during the summers of the mid to late sixties I would spend my school holidays as a "drivers mate" to Dave Midgley the lowloader driver.
It was a magnificent Scammell Hiwayman coupled to an old 4 in line trailer.
We would ferry around everything, 7cs Hymacs, Track Marshall dozers right through to Cat D8s whitch we took to Scammanden to work on the dam
Finally the old Scammell was retired and replaced with a shiny new Scania 110 super coupled to a king trailer (not quite the same).
The only other name that comes to mind is a 7c driver valled Pickergill.
I spent many happy summers at Hobsons with Dave and I just wish I could go back. Allas no to be.
