A new posting in the Heavy Haulage section shows a Dowsett Euclid on an RM Douglas low loader. RM Douglas built the Caterpillar plant at Uddingston just outside Glasgow. Dowsetts were involved in the first section of the M1 - Vickers crawlers and boxes. Think that they may also have been involved with the M20 Ashford to Cheriton section.
My request for Larry Webb info produced very little material - anyone got anything on Dowsetts?

Worked for Dowsett on the M20 early 80s,and the A19 Wolviston bypass in the early 80s. Finished with them at Gatwick Airport.
Ialway wondered what happened to Dowsett a good firm to work for. They had a sizeable amount of plant, 637s, 769s, 988, Belarus dumpers .They also had their own batchers ,concrete trains, batchers etc.

Was it not the Wolviston bye pass near Stockton worked on that job maintaining the SGME concrete train 1981.Had many breakfast in the old tea bus whilst working on the M20 Sellindge to Ashford stretch.Great photos a real walk down memory lane.Regards the Ripley job there was some fatalities sadly someone was reversed over by a D8?and a couple were killed by a scraper after jumping the lights at a road crossing.
Ps Denty are you any relation to Norman Dent who was a plant foreman for Dowsett.
