CBL chairman Barford dies
(15 August 2007 00:00)

Clive Barford, chairman of compact equipment specialist CBL, died suddenly on 30 July.

Having trained as an accountant, he joined the family business, Aveling Barford, as managing director, leaving some time after British Leyland took over to start his own company, initially in heavy equipment.

He started CBL in 1987 to specialise in compact equipment and retired in 1998, but remained as chairman. His daughter, Charlotte Barford, now heads the company as managing director.
