Another one for you guys,
Does anybody have any recollections of or photos of the equipment run by Mr Duckett.
He had a very tidy road haulage fleet in the 1960's and then during the 70's and 80's was involved in plant. In particular he was engaged in sea defence work around Minehead/Burnham and ran Russian Belaz dump trucks carrying the rock.
He later operated ex-military Foden dump trucks on similar jobs.
Cheers Mark

Re: Arthur R Duckett Highbridge Somerset
It was while staying with friends in Burnham-on Sea last weekend I learned the sad news that Arthur Duckett passed away last month aged 80. As Mark has stated Arthur ran a tidy fleet of tippers in the 60's including the Guy pictured and his fleet was involved in running stone from the Cheddar quarries to the Hinckley Point power station above Bridgwater whilst it was being built. He was probably best known for the Belaz dump trucks he owned which were used on rock carting for sea defence work-he ran into trouble with the local licencing authority over the use of these Belaz trucks on the road and to show his displeasure he promptly tipped up a load of sea defence boulders in the car park to their offices. After the Belaz's had gone he ran Fodens on the same sort of work.Later in life he went into the equine disposal business and farming where he bred large bulls. He would take these bulls to shows where people would try to guess the weight and this made much money for charities over the years.Arthur was a real character and his exploits are legend in the area.
. Rest in Peace Arthur
