No sign of the RH120 yet i, will be awaiting its arrival on site, there are lots of new kit on site 740´s, 365C LME but the scrapers they are using to strip the overburden are from 1975 (631 and 637C´s) and are still doing a grand job, they are being push loaded by a Stokey plant D9T showed on one of the photos.

Great pictures again Mike.do you know who they bought the scrapers off?.I remember Shaw's and Golightly's having some and I can remember Budge running some up that area too,but I can't imagine Banks having them from new.You don't see many D8L's either. In all my time with D8's I have seen a handfull of L series.D.Cairnes(Bigger),Ward bros(Durham),Stokey,Banks's had a cert rebuild L at Abingdon M74 1992.I think Becher has one too.Anyone know of any more?
From what I can remember working alongside the L's(never driven one)they were good beasts.Best sized D8 for ripping and good size for TS24/631 sized scrapers.
Someone should do a thread on L series tractors one day as they were kind of few and far between for some reason. :dizzy: .
I will post some D10L/D9L and D7H pics sometime but I haven't got any D8L pics :(

Many thanks for the kind words guys i will look at posting some more photos soon.

Banks have another D8L that i am aware of, it was working at the Fox Covert OCCS a couple of years ago, the D8L's Banks have are used to push the scrapers up the spoil heaps while they are unloading, the last couple of sites where i've seen scrapers at work they have used D9R/T machies to push load the 637's and 631's. (I did see a Komatsu 375 push loading Blackwell 637/G's and one of the fitters said the operator thought the D9 was a better machine for pushing this size scrapers).

I am not sure who Banks bought the scrapers off, if anyone knows i too would be interested to find out.

Nicky i would very much like to see photos of cat D9/10/L's, they are two machines i have seen working many years ago but have not got any photos of! I know Blackwells have a D9H and L and would like to get some photos of these machines, if anyone knows where these are working i would like to know!

Regards

Hi Mike.I have various pics of Levacks D10L on this board somewhere and I will scan some of their D9L pics and D10N pics for size comparison when I get time.I also have a good pic of their D9L next to Stokey's D9N with a D8H and a D7H in for good measure.Apart from some opencast D9L's the only other D9L's I have seen belong to Fiddlers Ferry powerstation and also Cheetham Hill Plant Hire of Manchester.Their D9L had an impact ripper on it but Levertons soon removed it!
I have also worked along side Blackwells D9L's on the A55 bypass. At that time they were ripping tractors and weren't used for pushing scrapers as I believe they now are.

Heres one of the 637s working at Shotton 2 weeks ago. At the time of my visit there was an old 120 on site with 2 more to be delivered August/September. Also of note 12 new 777Fs to go to site September/October with factory fitted sound suppression currently on test at Millers in Merthyr. ;)
