Fowler finished so I've started a new project.
I've had this old Fordson N in the shed over 20 years. and I've decided to resrore it.
She hadn't been run for at least 15/16 years. so no surprise, no spark.
I took the mag home and left it on a radiator overnight, ( Head Office wasn't very pleased), cleaned and reset the points and got a great spark.
I pumped up the tyres, re-fitted the mag., and filled the petrol tank. Eight or ten swings and she breathed again. I couldn't beleive my luck,shes running like a watch.
On the down side the rad wont hold water, I think i need a new radiator core, thats £3 to 400.
The steering wheel is US. too but at over £100 for a replacement i'll repair it, watch this space.

I have seen rad cores a bit cheaper Fred. On mine I removed the core plugs and cleaned out the sedement in the block.New core plugs are easy to get hold of as most of the parts for the Fordson N. Try Serck Marston in Penarth road to refurb the rad.They are good and fair priced.
Looks like you will be shopping for bits if we go up to Tractor World show at Malvern

Thank you, I've stripped out the rad core now, and its better than I thought.
Re-solder tubes top and bottom and its going to be OK. ( I hope)
Im going to have a go anyway, I've done several simmular in the past, including D8s, but then bigger is probably less dellicate and easier to do.

Thats good news Fred. Done a bit more on mine,get a day off and it rains.The TD6 motor is under repair now.Hopefully will get it back next week. Keep us posted on the Fordson project

Hi All,
Thanks for your interest.
Made a little more progress this week. Radiator top and bottom plates succesfully soldered, reasembled ready to fit.
I have to fit some thrust washers and seal packing in the water pump first though. I've got to repair, (weld), the front casting too, still giving that some thought.
King pins and trackrod ends will need doing too.
Here are a few pics. and a couple of a loader bucket a farmer friend droped in for repair.
So much for retirement.

Havent been able to spend much time on the Fordson lately, heres a progress report.
I mounted the rebuilt rad and gave her a good long run on petrol. I decided to fill the TVO tank and found the bottom of the tank had suffered a tin-worm attak. I'm looking for a replacement tank now.
In the meantime I fitted new kingpins and bushes, new air cleaner cap and exhaust.
I started on that old steering wheel today, it's back together and I've only got to re-form the rim. I'll use some sort of filler for that. It'll take two or three hours, better than £120 odd pounds for a replacement.
