Vintage CATERPILLAR D8 restoration

Post #1 by martyn williams » Sun Nov 04, 2007 2:40 pm

This D8 is a super project for Karl. In the very early 1960s it is believed that this machine was used on the then new Porthcawl caravan park. There were three D8 used for removing sand dunes in readyness for the caravans to be sited on what was the biggest park in Europe. My dad and my grandfather used to take me to see these machines at work, this gave me my first taste of plant.I had a photograph taken in the seat of a D8 in 1963,I think it was the same machine that Karl is working on.Will be trawling through our photo albums to find this photo.
When I find the photo I will put in on this site
