Problem with Search

Post #1 by gecko.cx » Tue Oct 31, 2023 1:36 pm

I've run into this problem a few times and can't come up with a viable work around.
The problem is the minimum number of characters required to make an 'acceptable' word.
Using my most recent attempt as an example, I was looking for the most appropriate place to put a photo of a JCB 3D4.
The response:
Information
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: jcb 3d mk4.

I'll ask Holger about this but guess the software may not be adaptable?

Hello,
thank you for the feedback! I will check this. But those words are VERY common and appear in each and every topic

It is a server side setting, words with less than 4 characters are not indexed for search.

This was the full response to your search:
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: jcb 3d mk4.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 4 characters and must not contain more than 84 characters excluding wildcards.

You can use this Google search: https://www.google.de/search?q=classicm ... jcb+3d+mk4

Yeah, I get the 'what' and the 'why'. Trouble is it limits so many "on topic" searches (some brands and most models).
I guess the external search is the most practical work-around.
