VanNatta is here.

Post #1 by rvannatta » Wed Aug 01, 2007 6:15 am

I came crawling in here by invitation today and scattered a few photos around the forum site
just for the heck of it.

Ive got my own website with a few (hundred) pages in it on logging machiney as I am an Oregon logger. It is possible it runs in the family.

If anyone can tell me how to get to the section to upload an avatar, or create a signature block it would be appreciated.
I cant seem to find it---maybe the administratior has to enable it....

I think the permissions are the problem.

In the last few years they have opened up and are allowing double trailers in what we call a Rocky mountain Doubles
which is this configuration. --- a dual drive truck followed by a long trailer and a short trailer.

In the log truck application the first trailer is stinger steered so even though the combination is about 90 feet long
it tracks well and will go right down a crooked road without cutting corners.

PS if you only spent a few hours reading, either you didnt find it all (the major sections are at the bottom of each page)
or some of it wasnt interesting. Ive been writing on that for over 10 years

If you browse down the section on big iron, it will give you a flavor of the variety of specialized logging machinery that exists.

I spent those hours in reading the parts which interested me. There is so much to read that it could fill several days, I know!

Some one has to harvest the wood, or everyone would have to wipe with a corncob and live in a stone house.
