For those who haven't heard of me, one of my hobbies is to tear models apart and rebuild them to try and get them a close as possible to a real machine. I also make much of my own detailing parts, decals etc and have several customs including probably one of the largest 1.50 scale fleets of Mt Arthur coal liveried and client spec customised machines.
Currently I have the 797F completely in bits, 785D partially stripped, 3 657G stripped of all paint and am working on detail parts for the 777.
Other hobbies mining related include mining history and used to be active exploring underground. Now tend to be more historical / mine development interest, particularly in coal.
Jobwise I started my working life with British Coal Opencast before working with Clay Colliery. Then went and did a mining related degree and then a PhD on the South Wales coalfield and other coalfields of the Variscan front. I have been a quarry manager and quarry development engineer overseas. I have also worked on cement and lime works before completing the full circle and now design high performance concretes.
