Hi All,

I think Holger also mentioned the possibility of getting some sponsors involved :)

Does anyone know of any business that would be interested in placing an advert here at CMN :?:

Could be good for all concerned

Thank you for your posts!
Well, I would prefere to have one or more advertisers so that I do not need to bother you.

So, if you know any company who wants to advertise, feel free to make the contact! :D
I am using the Openads software which enables me to deliver exact statistics.

And one more thing. I want to make this official: all money is used for the website. It is NOT my intention to earn money with donations and advertising!
So, if there is money left it will be used for development of the site!

Holger!

500 EUR is similar to 500 Euro is similar to 4.684,85 SEK  = 356,03 BPS. It is impossible members from England and Sweden should donate so much money. That is a lot of money in Swedish crowns.

Here is an example: I donate 100 SEK whish is only 5,34 EUR. Another member from England donate 10 BPS whish is 14,06 EUR. You see it is only a few percentage of the whole sum.

My experience from AMDusers.com as am is a member of (we as have computers of AMD make) is that only a little more than 6-7 members of 800 will donate. The payment morale is bad. But in USA the costs for hire a server is much, much lower say from 155 to 170 dollars.

The best solution should be if you had your own server and only would be forced pay for the cost of a domain name + juice.

LG, no-no-no ... :o
Take it easy.
IF we HAVE to discuss this, then think about 180 members (today).
That makes 3 Euro per member per year.
But if I CAN, I will choose another solution!

Having an own server at home is NO option. I do not have the bandwidth!
And buying a bandwidth which is enough for a server to host CMN or Maskinisten on costs MORE then the root-server which Maskinisten is running on.

AND, you cannot compare the server-location USA and Europe.
In the USA they are fighting each other with the prices. But only for the normal hosting.
Not the root-server.
Check out bluehost.com and other, that are normal hosters on shared servers.
That would mean the same problems which Maskinisten was having!

I do not like the way this discussion goes.
I will think about it and I will find a solution for CMN! Dont worry!
