Hello all

Here are some pictures of Komatsu HD785 dumpers i took when i worked at whatley quarry near Frome in Somerset England in aug/sep 2007.The one i am standing next to has got a fully rubberised skip/dump body.I found the truck nice to drive and it had a really good turning circle, all round not a bad machine.

Unless it's the camera playing tricks, the front wheels look different to the back (larger diameter centres), I would have expected them all to be the same size....

Must be a bit of a buzz driving something that size!! :o ;)

How many passes did it take you to get loaded by the 1250 ??

I forgot there were a few 785-5's at Whatley.
I assisted in the build up of the first truck in July 2001. If i remember correctly the rubber skip was manufactured by Skega.
The rubber was supported by wire ropes threaded through a skeleton body and not bonded into a standard steel floored skip as most are.

Hello Guys,
Celtic Energy had 19 of these trucks working at their Selar o.c.c.s in South Wales in the late 90s to mid 2000.
All the operators on that job loved them as they were so quiet to drive.
When the Walters Group bought Celtic Energy, the trucks were replaced with Cat 777s.
They were loaded by some late Demag H185s and a Komatsu Demag PC3000.
You can see footage of these trucks on the dvd called Black Harvest, the quest for coal.
Regards,
Mark. :D

These 785's were on hire to Kier from HCL back in January whilst the 777's were on there way in. Few snaps of them at rest and work and one with a flat tyre......
