777G assembly by StuBickley, on Flickr
Early in January took delivery of a pre production 777G truck. Owned by Cat and with a with an insurance value of £1,000,000 this truck is one of several pre-production or Field Follow trucks that has been put to work around the world to shake out any faults and see how they perform. There are 2 units in the UK, one at ATH and a second unit at KIER.

We found the truck ran well, real well, and the feedback we got is this is what a 777F should have been like. Fuel usage was down from an F and the truck out pulls all others on the ramps and performs well in the wet going up ramps due to the improvements in the traction control......

Ha ha! I was with you on that Graham, but to be honest this G is better than a "D" and an improvement over earlier "F's".
Its much more rugged and with less plastic and tin work and more care gone into the hydraulic pipework and electronics it looks like a market leader once again!
Be good to see it in full production.
