Re: New Cats for Celtic Energy
hello joe.
sorry for the delay in getting back to you, been out for a few days taking a D9R to hull docks and another 777F from cannock to south wales. We currently have a 385lme working over near grantham with a few A40s and a PC450,yes the 385s are getting on a bit now but are still pretty reliable for their age, i would think that they are around 7/8 years old now.we did have a 5080 in the fleet but was a bit of a disaster with the hydraulic pipes blowing on a regular basis so it was moved on so to speak.

Ah i reckon thats where the vans were going then! Not really that far from Grantham! I suppose its a testament to the machine that they are still going strong! Alot of machines would give up after a few years! My old 315C did after 5 haha

Hi Paul, good to see more new iron going to work over there. I'd question the reliability and ability of the Komatsus to take punishment over Hitachis though. We run a good number of both here, and the Hitachis are almost impossible to beat for reliability or durability. The Komatsus around here fall somewhat short of the Hitachis.

Hi Brian,
Got to agree with you on the smaller stuff, Hitachi does have the edge. The mining machines are totally different. The Komatsu's are derived from the original Demag models and they are virtually indestuctable!

Ah....id have to say that Komatsu have the edge over hitachi's in the Smaller stuff.....My PC130LC-8 runs rings round our ZX130LCH and would have done if the ZX wasnt nearly 3 years old....i drove it just after it was delivered and it was no where near as good as the PC130 i have now!
Although i was talking to a guy who works for hall construction services and he says that the Zaxis 870LCH out digs the PC800LC-8 and has slightly better cycle times......
