Hello Greasemonkey,
What percentage are the Cat 797s giving,I am lead to beleive that they don't give a much higher reliability than the T282s give. From what I am told it is the Komatsu 930e & the Cat 793s that are all giving the highest availability & these trucks are coming onto 20 year old, would I be correct. As of before xmas the T282s were giving 77 % availability.
I take it that you work at Syncrudes Base mine operation,if you work with the Liebherrs, when did they get their ex8000 that you mention?
LMK
Mark.

Hi Mark,

The last numbers I saw for the Liebherr trucks were around 71 or 72% and I believe were around a couple of weeks old. The 797s average over the whole series was running around 78 or 79%, the 930Es were around 83 to 84% and the 793s were around 92 to 93%. That is a bit misleading though, since the 793s are a mix of brand new and very old trucks, some of which have just been completely rebuilt. The 930Es are a mix of trucks that are from 10 to 14 years old. The Liebherrs are 7 tears old for the oldest trucks and the 797s are anywhere from close to brand new, to I think about 13 years old, with the majority of them being older.

The Liebherrs do slightly better in the winter, and as soon as it warms up, conditions soften up and the Liebherrs drop off, where as the rest of the trucks stay relatively consistent year round.

There is no EX8000 at Base Mine....yet, there is a rumour that one is coming for a 3 year lease, but there are a total of 5 operational up here right now, with one more being built as we speak. There will be a total of 8 up here by year end. The ones I have personally watched are at Shell's operations.

Mark,

Today I got the numbers for last year's averages of availability for the truck fleet.
The 797 fleet had the highest availability with an average of 82.9%
The 793 fleet was next with an average of 74.3%
The 930E fleet was third with an average of 73.4%
And the T282B fleet was last at an even 70.0%

The new 793s apparently don't factor into these numbers as they are leased, and not owned. These numbers are for company owned trucks only.

Pretty good figures considering the size of the fleet ...

Realistically you won’t get more than 92% per month if Maintenance is a priority ..

Got to agree with you on the smaller stuff, Hitachi does have the edge. The mining machines are totally different. The Komatsu's are derived from the original Demag models and they are virtually indestuctable!
