1950s

Post #1 by dozeron » Mon Oct 08, 2007 8:06 am

Hi all,
Found this shot taken in the 1950s near my home town of Morrinsville, North Island, NZ. This was a job that I was told was done by my dad and the local transporter operator who owned the A?160 and lowloader. This guy used to move my dads machines round the country from job to job. This barge was in use as a dragline platform mucking out canals in a large area of swampland being drained for farmland. My dad used a TD14 to push the barge onto the trailer for the trip. Back in those days, there were no pilot vehicles as such, just some-one in a car going ahead flagging down the few cars that may have been around. Move was done on a Saturday when traffic was light. As a boy I thought this was a mighty big truck!!
