16TDT scraper

Post #1 by dozeron » Thu Jun 21, 2007 8:20 am

Hi all,
I will try and post two more images of a scraper still in work in NZ I guess its over 50 years old. I think its about 16/18 yd capacity, a little more than the TS-14s that someone asked about in an earlier thread. (Here goes)

This is a rear view look at Brutus. Since these photos were taken in Oct 1993, the machine has been repainted and tidied up and it looked a million dollars when I saw it. I think about 8 of these particular models came into NZ.

I hope you guys enjoy these shots. As I get time I will put up some more from my collection. Not all the machines are unusual or special in anyway but an example of those I came across during my travels or on the jobs I worked on.
Catch ya later, dozeron.

Wow Dozeron!!!

Fantastic pics, what a rare old beast, I had never seen one of those before from Euclid with the four wheel tractor at the front, only ones I can recall were the Cat 666??

Keep up the good work Ron!!

Hi Dozeron,

Well what a coincedence, I have just been having my Sunday morning breakfast and reading my latest copy of British magazine Classic Plant & Machinery (volume 5 number 11 July 2007)2 and then on page 50 I come across a three page article on Euclid Six-Wheel Scrapers, just like the ones you have posted here....Fantastic!!

According to the article these machines were designated the 15TDTs/16TDTs and were the result of a flurry of development in 1948/49 the first pilot model was fitted with two 175hp GM engines but later models werefitted with 200hp Cummins engines or 190hp General Motors units.

A very interesting read if you would like to know more about this great plant magazine visit their website at http://www.cpmmag.co.uk. where you can subscribe for delivery anywhere in the world!!.....Well worth the money.

If you spend a few days on the MMT-Italia site, there are pics there of an International 4 wheel tractor with twin power. It's possible MRS made some too. For sure they had 4 wheel tractors, some were 4 wheel drive as well.
Some of these MRS 300 models, as seen in Classic Plant a couple of months ago, turned up on the DHS diecast forum, spotted in Taos, New Mexico. Teamed with 100 or 150 ton bottom dump trailers.
just like many oddballs of the equipment world, they languish in the middle of nowhere.
