Can someone explain to me why some 785 have longer bonnets than others. Nice pic BTW.

The longer bonnets are on the Banks machines because they have been altered to reduce the noise emissions. Banks' work with these has been so successful that their design is now being offered by Caterpillar as an option on the 777F, some of which have been on demo at Fos-y-fran.

#237 .. One of the better truck's.

The Extended Bonnet contains baffles, The exhaust's are double muffled, The truck has Nappy's through out.

Under the engine, Around the engine, Along side the tranny, (Helps to reduce the whine) The nappys cover every hole on the truck to reduce the noise.

SSL20497.JPG

The Nappys Hold all the Crap in, When you drop them Via rachet strap's, Torrent of slurry Yuk.

I have a boat load of pic's of the 789-785's and all the other equipment, Posted most of them on here.

Hi Ross,
Would have thought that all the nappies would have caused interuption to the airflow especially around engine causing overheating.obviously not as Cat has santioned it.
