KOMATSU

I knows it a Komatsu they came new to red row to replace the cat 777 in the early 80s dont know how they got on as like

Macca,

It looks like an early Komatsu HD785 truck - similar to the CAT 777's.

here's one i found at the end of it's life in the manghan shaw yard at ferryhill..

I just find it amazing that companys just let these older machines rot away like this :dizzy:

As we all know these bits of kit are not cheap, so you would think they would just sell them on or part ex them against new stuff :roll:

Just seems crazy to me :?

I suppose they might scavenge them spare parts and up until the recent boom in scrap prices, it probably wasn't worth scrapping them?

Nick,there are many yards like this.I've been in Shaw bros's yard many years ago.You could spend a day mooching about the debris.These type of men like to keep everything just in case they need some spares.The resale value of many of these bits is quite low......untill you need a bit!,then you just can't lay your hands on them.They know what they're doing even though it seems strange to you and me. :dizzy:

i'll start a seperate topic when i get back from work, but the scrap men were there when i was...not the greatest of sights....

it's now a very empty yard.....
