Yutani goes for a ride

Post #1 by rvannatta » Fri Aug 24, 2007 5:51 am

Here is a take of an offhighway lowboy hauling a Yutani excavator which has been specially modifed with an aftermarket
package for falling trees. the head is a rotosaw harvesting head that will cut trees to 28" The whole unit is harden
so as to be able to take a direct hit from a falling tree without damage. The cutter head has arms that are suppose
to hold the tree which may well be over 100 feet tall while a circle saw is cutting it off. then the tree can be layed down

You can pick up and swing and dump smaller trees in a pile for a fowarder or grapple skidder. Larger trees are best dumped
to the ground quickly.

One of the nice things about hauling off highway is that you can load the machine like it should be loaded and dont have to fiddle with trying to make it low and narrow. Loaded crossways, it can be both loaded and unloaded over the side
with little danger of the machine sliding off is is always a concern when trying to load/unload a wide machine on a skinny trailer.
