Hi Graham,

Good pics there!!

I notice the lorry in the first picture is a fair way from home?? Waltet are based in Nursling near my old stomping ground of Southampton.

Back along I stopped at their yard and took some snaps of an old Hymac 1301 that they use in the yard. You can just see the name on the building behind the machine.

I think Tetlaw have been taken over by Jet Plant from Evesham.

Like alot of industries, the local planing companies seem to be being swallowed up by the big boys.

Alot of the companies operate pretty much nationwide which is why most of their tippers have big sleeper cabs.
I have a mate who used to work for one of the big companies and he used to go all over the place. Most of it was night work, which eventually got the better of him.

Does anybody have any pics of Jack Harvey's bonnetted Scanias?

I could be wrong but I recall hearing that Tetlaw were bought by National Road Planing, before the Rand group sold NRP to Tarmac.

IBH,

You got me thinking with your reply mate.

Ive had a quick check on the net, Jet bought Tetlaw, evidently in 2004 but I thought it was later than that.

Anybody have any more pics of planing equipment or for that matter pavers in action?

Cheers

Mark.
