Hi everybody,
I live in Greece. A friend of mine wants to find a used roller. He says that the best deals probably exist in Germany.
He is looking for a machine that is about 3 years used and weighs 13 tons. Maybe around the 35,000 euros price.
Personally, I'm clueless about this industry and all the machinery. My friend asked me to look into this because he doesn't have any Internet experience.
I have searched around but till now I haven't been able to find something.
Could you please point me in the right direction? For example:
- are there any magazines I could find such deals in (will look for their pages in pdf format maybe)
- are there any websites with places that sell used rollers?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

Re: Looking for used roller in Germany
I would search machinery dealer web sites,Ebay etc.Try to get a roller that would not have to be transported a long way .Also the smaller twin rollers have a good compaction rate with a vibe. roll.Bomags etc. What use is the roller required for ? tarmac work ?
Martyn
This roller is a 13 tonne roller, Bomag BW 213 DH3.

Thanks Martyn - I'll look into your suggestions.
Yes, the roller is for tarmac work, as I understand.

Hi again...
I did some searching and I can't say I have had much success.
I haven't been able to find any dealer sites and when I search ebay.de for "roller" (according to Google Translate they use the same word in Germany) I couldn't find any relevant results.
I was wondering if there are any specific magazines on construction machinery that you could recommend?
Or any other ideas?
Thanks...

Autotrader (a magazine of used cars for sale by trade and private sellers) Do a magazine for Plant and Trucks in the UK.
Auction houses sell allsorts of plant at sales around Europe. These are advertised on the internet and in trade magazines, with some dealers advertizing in agricultural magazines. The Biggest Auction house is probably Ritchie Bros from the US who hold sales in Rotterdam and other places. Euro Auctions are an Irish firm that also sell in Europe.
Try searching by manufactuers names who make or used to make rollers, Aveling Barford, Ammann, Bomag, Caterpillar, Hamm (german), Stopert & Pitt, Vibroroll, Vibromax (now JCB but was German firm) and there are others as well that i cannot remember.
They may be called Vibrating rollers or compactors.
Different markets use different types and it depends what it is required for, as they have different compaction forces.
Heres a roller i just turned up by searching for ''vibrating roller for sale'' - http://www.sed365.com/buyandsell/advert/towed_vibrating_roller-horley_surrey_rh6_9jd-1835149.htm?&cpPrice=2
You could also try asking on CMN's parent site Maskinisten.Network Forum (click the logo at top of page) as some of the members in there are in Germany.
