Benford MBR 71 Roller

Post #1 by shepherd » Mon Apr 23, 2018 8:37 pm

Hi, Can anyone help with our restoration of this benford pedestrian roller?

The pulley belt is slack and we are not sure why.

One suggestion is the rubber roller mounts.

Is this likely and how do we replace them if it is?

Cheers

The pulley shaft does not look very central coming through the back casting.

Rich all belts stretch so there must be a way to adjust the tension; what does the top pulley look like? Years ago when I worked on trucks the compressor drive belt on the Seddon Atkinson 200 Series engine was adjusted by shims in the pulley, you simply took the front off the pulley and took a shim out and put it on the front of the pulley to adjust it.
If your pulley is not adjusted that way then I would look to see if one of the pulleys is eccentrically mounted and adjustment is made that way? Hope this helps.

Rich Although I dont know the age of your machine or what engines fitted I have attached a parts/operators manual from 2002. They havent changed much over the years so this book should help you.

Yes, that was another reason we suspected the rubber mounts have failed - does this seem right to you?

Many thanks, sadly I already have it and there is no mention of the pulley belt or how to replace the rubber mounts! I don't know if Benford ever produced workshop manuals?

Any thoughts?

Did you ever get this sorted? I think I have the same issue.
