Are the GPS equipped machines easy to set up? Ive been watching two D6N's lately and it got me thinking if the GPS is user friendly? When i read about them they seem really quite complicated!

Ah right, I've read a lot about them and watched a lot of D6's equipped with it! I've always wanted to get on dozers but the cost of getting the category on my ticket is just too much for me at the minute! So I guess I'll not be using the system for a while yet if ever!

There's nothing better than watching a good dozer driver in my opinion! I spent many a day watching a D6R LGP trimming stone with out gps a few years back! He got it with in about 10mm of finish level before a laser was put on it!

Joe, you can go directly to blue cpcs in northern ireland for a cost of 5-600 pounds.only requirement is you need to have a bit of previous experience but if you had interest to start of with and 3-4 shifts on the machine that would probably b enough to get you through the practical side of it and as im sure you know the rest of it is wee buns, the gps is only accurate to plus or minus 15mm so nothing special and if you have bad reception it creeps up to plus, minus 25 which is miles of,be better switching her of in that scenario
You need to regularly measure the wear on the cutting edge and reprogram
as this can make it even worse

Im going to look into getting my ticket on dozers! Id give up a seat on the excavators in a heartbeat to get on one! I got quoted 20k off one guy if i did it privately! I had thought about seeing if my boss would be willing to fund it as he did put me through my 360 ticket but as we very rarely use a dozer (even though we could quite easily on most sites) i dont think he'd be up for it!

Oh well let the research begin!

That crossed my mind Clive when has training been classed as daylight robbery? I have a trainer that we use at work I will ask him about what the cost of training should be, I don't know if he can help or not but I should get a better idea and will let you know what I can find out.

Thanks Jeremy! This guy told me I would have had to hire my own dozer for a fortnight, find a field to use supply my own diesel then with the 3 grand of ticket from him! Oh and transport! I don't think he likes me to be honest! We kind of had an altercation with him when he tried to tell me how to do my job when he's never spent a day in the job in his life! (A fact he openly admits) so he might have been trying to put me off!

Speak to me to, I lent a bloke one of my dozers and he paid about £500 to do it. ;)
