Fred, Was you on that job? I wasn't myself but my father was. The man that was in the saddle at the time is really good operator that I worked with later on another site.

I will be fitting safety chains to mine. I cant believe Cat made the D4 and D2s that way - all that hold them in place is a couple of bolts across the spring end that easily shear. On a steep bank under full power it is doubtful that even a skillled oerator could react fast enough to disengage the clutch as you would get thrown around a bit.
