BTD6 rear end problem

BTD6 rear end problem
My need help Hi i will have to pull the left side apart and check it out the left break pedal is moving up and down mybe a bearing any handy hints to help when pull it down and put it back to gether thanks john

John it sounds like your top pinion bearing might be a knacker, this will give you a great chance to get involved with your steering clutches, this is a fairly big strip out and could involve removing the track frame to pull the F/Drive case, you might be lucky and just have the drum flange come loose, to remove the cluches you need 3 bolts to compress them 2 5/8"x 3/8 unc (I think) its what BTD6's are loved for.

Thanks mate i have found the problems the pinion drive housing is broken my BTD6 is a early one 3 bolt cap on pinion serial number 1483 john

Hi Tony,
I think the compression bolts are 2 5/8" x 7/16" UNC not 3/8, and they should have a spiggot end about 10 mm. long.
