vickers found in no mans land

Post #1 by kansasdog » Tue Sep 22, 2009 5:23 am

hello friends found a interesting piece of iron in the weeds in kansas the other day.
it is a vickers dozer i have exhausted all of the cat sights looking for informtion on this machine.

It looks identical to a vickers vigor on youtube

can anyone tell me how many of these machines where built and about what the value of a machine in restorable conditions would be.

and maybe the answer to the $1,000,000 dollar question, how did this beast wind up in the middle of the U.S.

any info would certainly be helpful

thanks

Hi Jason,
I'm not an expert on Vickers by any means.
It was built from 1952 to 1961 as the Vickers VR 180 Vigor. Powered by a Rolls Royce 6 cyl diesel (C6 SFL) rated at 210 Hp.
Aparantly 889 were built.
There is an interesting article about them in the Crawler Tractor Scrapbook Part 2 by Richard H Robinson.
If there is any specific info you need I will see what I can do.
