This little bulldozer had snapped a track pin through (wet link) at 1800 hours worked from new.

These tracks are CAT as fitted from new, this little banger has 1'840 hrs on the clock from brand new, it has been serviced by Finning from new, the track chains are knackered, the segments top rollers and a few other bits need swapping out, I have said I will do the job where it stands no worries, as for getting dirty, I was up to my neck in it the day before, so it was just a different colour dirt but same depth.

this is a bit inconvenient to say the least - up to your eyes in shy-tea, but it could have been somewhere like the side of a bank. Roly I think I've seen some of your D6s down with this disease........what the hell are Cat thinking about making it out of such brittle material? Surely it never used to be like it.....or did it?

Richard,to be fair, when we have had tracks come apart its because the
crokerdile joiner bolts were not tight enough, result, coming loose then
breaking,we have had trouble with bought in machines that had recent track
work done, some people dont realise how tight they have to be,like a D8 track
250ft-lbs + 1/2 turn, or D6R 300 + 1/3 turn and thats bloody tight.

Tony, the little tractor is up to its nuts in it,some dirt is worse than grinding
paste to work in,we can normaly get to 4000 hrs before a turn, but in one
of Hansons gravel pits we did,nt make 2000 hrs, another contractors D8K
on a box and with his blade on only made it to 1300hrs we did warn him to
take it off

This little banger sits on an inert tip at a gravel pit, it hardly moves from its landfill dutys, plus the fact it's serviced by Finning, they seem to have missed the fact that the chains are scrap???, I am hoping to get the job but have not had any word yet??, I repair the other blades on this site run by outside contractors, but a day on that little cream puff will give my back a rest, High Drives I love them "always something to do"
