Re: Caterpillar D9
hello martyn.
nice to see a craftsman at work,we run loads of 9s and the best pusher was an old h series that was recently sold to be converted into a boom, there is no evidence of that driver abusing that tractor whilst at the same time he is getting the best from it,nothing worse than to see the second gear brigade dogging a machine,

Re: Caterpillar D9
Hi, Martyn.
Thanks for posting that. As Gah1950 said, it is nice to see a craftsman at work. I spent many very happy hours making D9G's and H's do what they did best and loved pretty much every minute of it. The world will never be the same 'cos somebody gave me a D9 to play with.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Re: Caterpillar D9
Thanks for that Martyn, Always impressive to see these at work. Would you have any idea of the strength of the push, How much it can push when fully loaded? 2tons?

Re: Caterpillar D9
They recon a D11 can push around 75 tonnes, so a D9 30/40tonnes maybe. I like theses videos as they have a high quality picture and convey the strenght of these machines

Re: Caterpillar D9
Last time I was using a D9H that was well up to a days work, it would drive straight through 5 8wheel tipper loads without to much trouble, this was on a landfill site with about 4 to 500 loads coming in on a good day, so you had to keep it Lit, with the boot poked hard into the old girl, the D9H can sharp tidy up a site, aslong as you dont get bogged, the old bird in the vid is a D9G the H had about 40 horses more and about 12" more steel in hight hanging off the rams, the H model tractor was a great improvement on the earlier tractor, the first D9's had the air blown back ends (dry case) and the cross flow radiator, the engine is the D353, it has the timing gears on the flywheel end of the motor.
