Excellent video Holger, great find. I didn't realise this method of demolition was still used with the proliferance of health and safety police

Hi Martyn,
Good find there.
Having used a demo. ball, I'd say this guys drag rope must be a shambles on the drum.
Don't know why he lets so much free rope run out after the ball has landed Its bad practice to have to wind in a slack drag rope whether on ball or bucket. It can cause short rope life, locked coils and all sorts of problems.

Know absolutely diddly squat about this but it looked dangerous when he used the ball as a graple and it slipped flying back towards jib.

hello all.
fred is absolutely right about slack rope.on the 22rb,s it was fatal to have any slack on the front drum as it had a nasty habit of finding it,s way around the booster clutch for the boom hoist, and before you knew it the boom was making its journey over the back of the cab,the 38s had parallel drums so not too much would happen exept flattening the ropes and miscoiling, ,

Re: RB 38 with demolition ball working
I had a job a few years back to get off a scrambled wire rope of a drum after the operator of a crane let the rope go slack.Used the gas axe on it in the end.
