Cat 345C with wrecking ball

Post #1 by TUHD » Sun Jan 25, 2015 8:54 pm

Cat 345C excavator working with wrecking ball. A very efficient demolition method and it is also much faster than working with hammer. Also better for machine when the operator has the right experience.

You can't beat a wrecking ball on big areas of reinforced slab. The ball shatters the concrete of the steel where a hammer just punches holes in it and it looks like a giant tea bag!

Does it put the boom under a lot of stress constantly changing direction with a dead weight like that?

What are the balls made of - always assumed concrete but guess it needs to be way harder than the concrete it is smashing?!
