You bet! I have never seen it before.
Is it powered by that air hose laying beside the under carriage?

Pictures of special equipment on excavators are always interesting.

Well, this is not every days sight.
Do you have a picture of the cabine from front? Is there a window?

Very nice! I have seen the same attachment but on a larger Ã…kerman machine.

There seems to be some hydraulic hoses going into the cabin. Probably for controlling the drill. I think that´s why they removed the windscreen. Or window, whatever it´s called. :D

Hi Nick,

Thanks for posting the photos!

Hi Robert,

To answer your original question; yes, the air line lying next to the machine is connected to a remote compressor not seen in the photos to power the "drill head".

Also; windshield or windscreen are the correct English words for the forward facing glass panel on cars, trucks, equipment, etc..

Nick (again),

Although Ive seen many rotary drills attached to hydraulic excavators; I have never seen a set-up quite like this ever. Even considering the external air supply, is this type of configuration legal in the UK? Hydraulic lines suspended by chains and such would result in considerable fines here in America. With few exceptions; machines here have to be "self-contained".

John Henry is one manufacturer of hydraulic excavator drill attachments. You can see how the additional engine, hydraulic pump and reservoir, and air compressor are fitted to the counterweight and sometimes in place of.

All the best,

Why?
And why do they have to be self-contained?

As in Sweden its the safety of the workers and legal regulations that makes it illegal to have hydraulic lines open in the drivers compartment. If a hoze snaps or a pipe cracks its lethal to have it in the compartment!

Yes of course. But why should it be illegal to have hoses hanging in chains (although it doesn´t look that good :D ).
And why do the machines have to be self-contained?
