Thanks John. No, missed out on Maldon, must find an excuse! Good one down here for steam enthusiasts at Brede on the Kent/Sussex boarder - another water pumping station + a Cold War bunker! Two huge triple expansion engines and regular "steam up" days.

Just unearthed a few pics of the pump house and purification plant attached to the Hanningfield reservoir near Chelmsford. Taken during a college visit in about 1962. The first pic is of the magnificent Crossley stand-by generator for keeping the water flowing during power cuts.

Here's two local Quadies - one UK purchased and the other a private import second hand from the US with only a couple of hundred hours on the clock. Apparently the capital allowances to farmers in the US are such that they will buy a big tractor for the autumn or spring cultivations and then sell it...
