Re: Drott line up

Shortly after the B100s were introduced a number of the came out of the factory with in correct timing marks on the front cover and this did result in a lack of power and of the glow plugs cracking the coil element. I remember going round from site to site and spill timing the injection pumps. Howev...

Re: B85

Unlike the BTD6 and B100s the B85s were never as popular as the larger machines, however, Savilles at Feltham did manage to sell a few. As Martyn said the steering arrangement was fragile and in service needed constant adjustment to keep it working correctly.Setting the steering system up was done wi...

Re: Farmall 1550 loader -- problem diagnosis

Does the loader have double acting lift cylinders?
Some of the loaders fitted to agricultural tractors only had single acting lift cylinders and therefore could not exert any downward pressure.
Lowering was only by gravity.

Re: International 100B lack of forward drive + where to get service manual?

Hi Ingo I think that when you swapped the hoses over and you still had the problem on the forward pack you have eliminated the pipework as the cause of the fault. You mentioned that the pump is by the battery, am I reading that right? The trans pump is mounted in the torque converter housing and is ...

Re: International 100B lack of forward drive + where to get service manual?

Hi Ingo If this machine is a British built {Doncaster} example it will have two hydraulicly operated clutch packs, one for forward and one for reverse. To my knowledge I H never built a 100B with hydrostatic transmission {though some wheeled loaders and tractors were}. From what you are describing i...

Re: International 100B lack of forward drive + where to get service manual?

This could be a result of the forward clutch pack being worn out, after all its the forward pack that does all of the hard work. All you need to check the pack is a torch! Put the machine in high range and make sure that the brakes are well locked on,remove the dipstick and start the engine, now shin...

Re: BTD 20 IH questions

Hi Taylor, As I worked for an I H agent back in the sixties and seventies, like Fred I had a lot to do with these machines. The earlier 14s and18s did have cylinder head problems and I H introduced what they called the "jet head" in an attempt to rectify the cracking that occured. This was...

Re: Drott line up

As one of the apprentices at Savilles back in the sixties we had visits to the I H factory in Doncaster and at a later date to Rubery Owen at Darlaston. At Darlaston I can well remember basic BTD 6s being fitted with their Drott loader equipment, I wasn't aware however that Owens made parts for the ...

Re: Larry Webb

Thanks for those pictures Tony, I did quite a bit of work for Webby when he ran some International 175s, must have been back in the late sixties when I worked for Savilles. Wasn't it in the early seventies that he was killed in either a helicopter or light aircraft crash? Didn't the conpany then bec...
