Re: Which JCB?

I was thinking of around the £2-3000 price maximum really,as it would only be for personal use. So a right old nail if I`m lucky!

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Hi all, Looking at a 3c that has been left standing in a shed for 3 years,in a French barn. Says its all there but will believe it when I see it. I have been given this info: Plaque : 3CX - 111391YE 3845 - 200191 29241 It looks like any other 3c-not like a 3cx? so a bit odd that. Can anyone else tel...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Hi all, thought I`d better let you know that the 3c2 I showed pics of has been robbed of bits ie cab, front loader etc,as the owner decided he could get more for it breaking it. Shame really,as it was complete mostly, although it had some unkowns. I nipped in today and got the rear bucket,a 36",w...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Good thinking William, and you Norman- Its expensive stuff isnt it. I know some farmers who have old used oil from their services to their machines-maybe I should swipe a few gallons of that instead and test the machine with that. Cheers for now chaps :)

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Thanks Boober,-as you say I have nothing to lose but a bit of oil do I!? Well worth a try. Work for me has been crazy,so I havnt been back since to see the machine-just hope its still there! I dont mind a bit of hard work/fettling,but there are quite a few pipes missing(to the slew motor, actor main ...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Thanks again William-Thats given me somthing to think about. The dipstick was bone dry-not a drop of oil on it,so it sounds like it needs the full wack of oil in it doesnt it? I`m really tempted by this machine at the price, but cant help feel a tad that it might be a money pit as all of the unknowns...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Thanks Pete for the reply-yep it is cheap really,so I`ll have to make my mind up quick! Is it difficult to swap gearboxes around on these? ie manual ones for shuttle ones and vice versa? or not practical? Also its difficult and pricey to nip back to the UK for parts.
Cheers for now.

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Yep,I agree that I need to see it move under its own steam before I shell out for it-but I cant see the owner buying any oil for it-he runs a reclamation/scrap yard and is keen to shift it by the look of it. Glad to hear you think it should come back to life again with oil,so maybe I can do some dea...
