I wouldnt even bother trying to machine it my self but would weld it up and then get it machine from some pretty switched on people as any movement left would return you back to were you are now Even shimming I would think would be only a stop gap measure until a job is finished and can be fixed pro...

If it were mine and I couldnt get the parts I would build the surfaces up with weld and machine it back to the correct size
Im not sure if you have the facilities at hand for such things but machine shops arent very dear for this type of thing in Australia

The Fiat 130 C looks around the same sort of size as a D6 D or maybe a D5 B, have never seen one though
Dad bought a new 605 Fiat crawler for farm use that looked similar to the 655 shown, it was a real good machine for its time and never did a lot of work

I guess if its to heavy its to heavy whether you lower it to the ground or not some has to be shoveled out and this way you dont shovel any more than is needed maybe ????
