Here we go - just taken a quick photo of an old Guinness Book of Records book.
Definitely a Fiat-Allis, however, 1 exhaust stack? Maybe the early units only had one stack (or it isn't a 41)?

Think your right Ian!
Let me have a look around to see if I can find another version!

I'm sure that when I have seen this picture before the dozer in Big Muskie's bucket says Fiat-Allis on the front. I'll try and find a better resolution picture.

Wow - never realised that a HD41 worked in the UK.
They were very big dozers - a fair bit heavier than the D9 at the time I believe and only beaten by the D10. The Muskingham Mine in Ohio where Big Muskie worked had a lot of these and really rated them apparently.

Re: Extreme Paving
That is really impressive - really well thought out.
I'm surprised that the paver can spread the material on the 30 degree slope. I guess the auger must run up hill.

Re: Question
Thats got me thinking! It looks loads faster but I'm not sure why?!
Looks like you still have to manually place the bricks - just on the machine rather than on the floor?

Re: A couple of items from our archive
Looking again they were the same as the cometto carrying the 992 but with a massive swan neck at the front - normally connected to a custom volvo with an extra axle

Re: A couple of items from our archive
I remember the Heanor kit as a child - I was always amazed by the big 4-axle (32 wheel I think) trailers - can't remember of they were nicolas or commetto - and a big double-ended girder trailer that never moved!
