Stripping overburden in NZ.

Hi All, Thought I would put this up for you. Nice Cat D8K?? But in the background is a Terex TS-32 about to be either push-loaded, but it appears to be well and truely loaded already, or\\so it may well be bogged down. In the 1970s a company in NZ brought in about 6 second-hand 32s for a stripping j...

Re: Old Dozers in Action

Hi Deas, You may well be right, Im not really up with the earlier British crawler tractors, more with the yankee Cats etc. I thought they might have been a conversion like this one I found in NZ in 1996. Its a Fergie and a little machine I would have really liked to get, but no it didnt happen. The ...

Re: Old Dozers in Action

Hi all,
On Nicks thread. Here is a Fordson/Roadless conversion I found in Roma, a town several hours west of Brisbane, Queensland in 2000.
This one was still a goer and just having some minor repairs.

Re: First post, cable shovel in Russia.

I reckon you guys are right but seeing it on a navvy is rather strange. Worked in an open-cast coalmine here in NZ in the 1960s. The company operated three 120-RB navvys that had been destined to go to Russia. For some reason, I think it was political they ended up in NZ, bought by the Government. T...

Re: rare ones

Hi all,
I think the Cat 621 is mated to an Athey reardump. Looks very like the model made by NZG back in the 1970s. Could be wrong!!

First post, cable shovel in Russia.

I was sent this photo a number of years ago by Benjamin Beytekin. I think hes from Sweden. I hope he dosent mind me putting it up. Its taken in Russia and looks very like a 110-RB to me but what that item is hanging off the dipper, I dont know, does anyone have an idea?

Cat 793C on float.

Took this shot of a Cat 793C heading out west in March 2000. Taken at a truckstop at Dalby, couple of hours out of Brisbane in Queensland.

Golden Cross Minesite.

Previously I had showed some Dresser 350 dumptrucks and a PC1000 at a minesite where I worked in the early 90s. That company lost the stripping contract and a new outfit moved in with a PC100 F/Shovel and a fleet of Cat 773s & 777s. Here is the F/S being assembled.

Komatsu F/Shovel in NZ.

A few weeks back I put up a thread that showed 38RBnavvys at a quarry not far from where I lived. They were put out to pasture by this rig, a Komatsu F/Shovel. Here it is loading a couple of the Euclid dumptrucks they also run. They have about 8 dumpers, mostly Euclids but also at least one Wabco. N...
