Re: ACCO bulldozer moves again

Hi, TCTractors. Yes, I know that there are more pins nd bushes around an oval track sprocket than around a hi-drive sprocket. How-wevver, I have been told by several people whom I would expect to have some idea 'cos that is their game that that is not the main issue. I'm no track wear expert but the...

Re: ACCO bulldozer moves again

Hi, Bigkit. I don't know that your explanation would work. I have been assured by people whose business is dealing with tracks and track wear that even with the oval track designs, it is only the first 3 or 4 links/pins/bushings on the sprocket that have any real load on them. After that, they are j...

Re: Mitsubishi on real boggy ground in NZ.

Hi, Nick Drew. Sorry M8, but Cat hi-sprocket drives pre-date the Acco dozer by about 5 years. The first D10's, the 76X's came out in 1978 and were the first of the Caterpillar hi-sprocket drives. There were several others before that, the Cletrac model F in 1919, the Best Humpback 30 in 1916, and a ...

Re: ACCO bulldozer moves again

Hi, FCGH. Apparently, Acco built a 160 ton 'prototype' grader before he built the 'REAL' one. I don't know any of the specs on it other than the weight. I have a tendency to laugh out loud when people say that the Champion T100 is the biggest grader ever built at 91 tons and 700 hp. It's only a pup,...

Re: ACCO bulldozer moves again

Hi, FCGH. It is great to hear that it has been saved and I enjoy the Youtube videos. How-wevver, we do know who now has it although not necessarily what he plans to do with it. It is now in the possession of one Robertodavide Valerio who has a page on Facebook where it is said he has posted some pho...

Re: BTD 20 IH questions

Hi, Taylor. The early IH crawlers, particularly the TD14, the TD18 and the TD24 were also NOTED for final drive issues. They would handle drawbar work under a fairly steady load pretty well but they did NOT llike the shock loads of heavy dozer work. The TD24 also had clutch issues with one version t...

Re: D8H? Push Loading euclid Scraper

Hi, Folks. The dozer in the first photo is a Cat D8 13A series. The enlarged diesel fuel tank to the right of the operator is the giveaway. The only other D8's to have that or anything like it were the McCoy Special D8 push-dozers developed for push-loading scrapers more economically. Here is a leaf...

Tulare, California show has a working vintage earthmoving display this year.

Hi, Folks. The Tulare, California, show on April 21 - 22 is a show with a different look this year. For the FIRST time, they are having a working vintage earthmoving display. ACMOC Chapter 5 has received permission to put on a working vintage earthmoving display in a field adjacent the main show are...

Re: O&K G350 question

Hi, Jensr. The blade on the O&K G350 that I operated was 20 feet wide or near enough 6 metres. I diubt that the G350 cab would fit any of O&K's smaller graders. Grader cabs are not renowned for being terribly spacious and that one was far and away the most spacious that I have ever been in s...

Re: dozers

Hi, Folks. These dozers are diesel-electric drive as FCGH said. Built in several places in Russia from about 1961, they have a bit of a reputation for keeping going in the Russian winters when pretty much nothing else will. Their latest 'baby' is the T800 with specs almost exactly like the Cat D11T....
