For the hoses perhaps get some prices from your local hose specialists. They can take the p*ss a bit sometimes so do some comparisons.

There should be a sight gauge in front of your right leg in the normal driving position. Piece of clear tube with markers. Make sure there is not any water or milky oil in the tank before topping up with fresh.

I remeber wrestling with the gear change and steering on a 6 wheeler Foden D/T similar to one from last and thinking how crude from the AEC mercury I had just jumped out of. Sadly, or otherwise, I was about 10 and the Foden was stationary in our local Blacksmith's yard awaiting the breakers.

I am no expert but if you drive forward down a slight slope with a loaded 4000 with as you start to tip and brake you will have the arse end up fairly quickly. I doubt it would be heavy enough for all but very light loads without mods. The weight would be further forward than with the skip plus the ...
