How did the stabilizer/jacks work? Never actually seen one in flesh. Think they are quite early with the single crowd ram and round mud guards. The old Major engine must have coughed a bit with the all up weight.

You need to find which method of trans oil checking is correct. It may be a fast idle for 5 mins from cold then stop and dip. Some T/c are dipped whilst on idle.
